33 hours on the water chasing snapper, kingfish and kahawai. Get measured, take the podium, and see who is bringing home the biggest catch or catches for this year
Buying more than one? Add as many tickets as you like, then enter the email address of every entrant — e.g. 2 emails for 2 tickets — before you check out. Capped at 75 tickets. If winds are forecast over 25 knots we may reschedule to 24–25 October — we'll confirm by Wednesday 14 October.
Every entry is eligible across all three categories — land your best of each and back yourself for a placing in more than one.
You don't need to catch a winning fish to take something home — every entrant goes into the draw, so everyone's got a shot!
Fishing runs from 5am Saturday 17 October to 2pm Sunday 18 October. Prizegiving at 4pm Sunday.
Algies Bay boat ramp. or near by for launching, and Sandspit Yacht Club, Club Rooms, Algies Bay for the briefing and prizegiving.
$50 per angler covers all three species categories,
You'll need 1 Algies Bay Fishing Classic measure mat per boat to measure and submit your catches on. A standard measure mat will not work with the SnapCatch App. Grab one in the merch section →
Keeping an eye on the forecast: if it's shaping up too rough to fish safely (winds over 25 knots), we'll shift the whole event to 24–25 October instead. We'll make that call by Wednesday 14 October so everyone has plenty of notice.
ABFC gear, printed front and back. Tees $40, hoodies $60, caps $35, measure mats $25. Tees and hoodies available in navy, grey and black, sizes XS–2XL — click a photo to see it bigger, or tap a colour/size to switch.
One continuous 33-hour competition — not two separate days.
Safety first: if the weather looks too dangerous to fish (winds forecast over 25 knots), we'll move this whole timeline to the backup weekend of 24–25 October. That decision will be made and communicated by Wednesday 14 October.
To enter fish in the Algies Bay Fishing Classic we'll be using the SnapCatch App to record and submit catches. To make everything run smoothly on the day, we ask all competitors to please download the app well before the competition begins.
Once the competition is set up in the app, we'll notify everyone so you can submit a practice photo or two to confirm everything is working correctly. Doing this ahead of time helps avoid any last-minute stress on the day.
SnapCatch is quick, simple to use, and designed specifically for fishing competitions.
